Completed bathroom renovations

Well, it is not totally complete; 2 towel bars, 2 towel rings and a toilet paper holder need to go up, and small amounts of caulking need done. BUT! The major things are in, working, NO LEAKS anywhere, and getting good use already.

I will show you the after shots and then side by side before and afters, just because:) And yes, the bathroom really is that bright now.

Chloe just had to help sand, so we let her have at it and she did a very good job:)

As you can see, the only thing original to the bathroom are the shower curtains and rings and the ceiling. The ceiling did get a fresh coat of paint and the fan vacuumed out.The vanity is a little bit more red than we thought, but it is growing on us. We were able to find a counter top for a good price that had the sink bowl integrated into the counter, so no more trying to clean around the sinks. My requirement for the faucet was that it could not be a 4 inch faucet with 2 handles and it had to be brushed nickel to match the tub and shower faucet finishes. It is so hard to clean in those small spaces between the faucet and handle. We found a 4 inch faucet with the one handle and it makes it so much easier to clean and for the kids to use. The toilet is a one piece fixture with no little nooks and crannies to clean. The lid is one of those that is a soft close to help prevent the slamming of fingers. The kids love to watch it flush:)

The picture on the right in the middle is there because that wall is actually a little bigger than it was before. The doorway needed to be expanded to get the one piece tub/shower combo in the room. In the process, it was easier to make the door way a little wider than try to fit the old door in, so that is a new door as well. It worked out really well on the other side as well. The door trims for the bathroom and the master were so close that it was practically impossible to paint between them, and with the door moved over to the left several inches, it is now possible and done. The hallway is white and we will slowly be moving around the dining room and painting it white as well. We have 3 colors in the dining room and it is slowly driving me crazier than I was before:)

The new mirror is a medicine cabinet, so we don't have to have as many things on the counter, in drawers, and in that thing in the previous picture. In fact, that thing is no longer needed in this space. I think the best thing about the new vanity is that it now fits the entire space and there is not a gap on the left side. And the sink. We loved that sink at first and then gradually came to despise it.

There is not a square of tile in this room anymore and we love it! No more grout lines in the shower to scrub clean with a toothbrush, no more cold feet whenever the the room is entered without shoes, and no more cracking grout because it should have been caulked around the floor and shower and not grouted. It is just so much easier to clean and now, more than ever, that is a major bonus point for us.

It has been a long 3 1/2 weeks, but it is done to where we can fully use it and not worry about water leakage or cold feet or where to put things out of the reach of little hands.

We had so much help in gutting the bathroom and putting it back together. You know who you are, and we will be forever grateful that you rearranged schedules and family time to help us out. We had a bathroom renovation in the plans to complete in the next year or 2, but I am happy that it is done now and we can enjoy it for that much longer.
